Buddha at the MET

When I stand in front of a work of art, I find myself flashing back and forth between analysis and rapture. Left brain says "How are you made? I need to know." Right brain says "Who cares? I love you."

Awe is the lovechild born from the courtship between art and science. Science says "I can explain everything, I am SCIENCE!" Art says "You can never catch me, I am ART!" Science goes running with its butterfly net as art flutters its wings overhead. Through that dance, that desire to explain the inexplicable, and for the inexplicable to recreate itself in order to never be known, something even greater is born.
